GUARDS
POLO CLUB is the leading private members polo club
in Europe. It was founded in 1955 with HRH The Prince Philip, Duke
of Edinburgh, as President. Since inception the Club has grown considerably
and it is now the largest polo club in Europe in terms of membership
and number of grounds. The Club's premier official tournaments are
the Queen's Cup, Royal Windsor and the Archie David, all of which
take place in June. In July each year, the Club plays host to the
Hurlingham Polo Association's International Day. The Club is also
home to the Inter-Regimental in July, The Duke of Wellington Trophy
in August and the Nations Cup in September. Cartier International
Polo Day in July epitomises the high society lifestyle enjoyed by
Royalty and celebrities alike.
THE
NEW MUSCOVY COMPANY takes its inspiration from
the 16th century Muscovy Company - the first English joint stock
company set up to trade with Russia at the time of Tsar Ivan IV
(the Terrible). New Muscovy continues the tradition of long standing
commercial links with Russia. It owns an award winning luxury vodka
brand Ivan the Terrible©, produced for the Company in St Petersburg.
Ivan the Terrible© vodka is a corporate partner of Guards’
Polo Club and the official supplier of BAFTA Film and TV Awards.
In 2005 the Company launched Ivan the Terrible Polo Challenge©,
the first and only annual polo tournament in which teams from Russia
play.
MOSCOW POLO CLUB (est 2003), chaired by Alexis Rodzianko, provides modern infrastructure and bespoke facilities for professional players and extensive training programs for beginners. It runs a busy schedule of summer and winter tournaments, including Russian Open Polo Championship in partnership with Credit Suisse in August and polo-on-snow tournament in February. Playing months are February-March and June-July-August-September.
